It's a rail gun. Instead of using explosive to push it down a barrel, they use a series of electromagnets to pull it down. I want one.

Awesome! The rail gun has been a standard textbook elecromagnetics problem for a long time, but there has never really been a practical implementation of it. This looks pretty sweet though. I love the pressure waves when that bolt is bursting through the air in slow motion. I wonder what all the fire and smoke is though. There isn't supposed to be anything combustible in a rail gun.

I wondered this same thing my best guess would just be air combusting because of the extreme heat and pressure generated by this thing.

I've been playing rail guns since quake arena.

Sent from my HTC Rezound.
Captain Ramius: We will pass through the American patrols, past their sonar nets, and lay off their largest city, and listen to their rock and roll....while we conduct missle drills.
